Easter Closure Victorian Archives Centre Reading Room

The Victorian Archives Reading Room in North Melbourne will closed for two full weeks at 4.30pm on Friday 26th March, 2010 and re-open on Monday 12th April, 2010. The Reading Room will continue to be closed on Mondays and Saturdays until April 2010. These closures will allow additional building improvement works to be undertaken. Further details about the Reading Room closure can be found at PROV website.

The State Library of Victoria has recently added a number of new guides about family history. Local History Walk/Talk March 26th 2010

Walk and talk with Sheila Byard and other members of the Kensington Association History and Heritage Group. Hear Joan Coxsedge, artist, activist, and former MP, recall childhood days in Kensington and later encounters with Harry Bridges. Joan's autobiography 'Cold Tea for Brandy' was published in 2007. The talk will begin at 4pm, followed by a walk that will leave from Wayward Books at 5.30pm and finish at approximately 6.30pm; the walk will include public art in Kensington including Bellair Street mosaics (which have Flemington as well as Kensington relevance), a Salvadorean mural at Community Health Centre, Hardimans Hotel public bar ceiling, Stock Route mosaics.
